PHASER TO BE PRESENTED AT THE THALES JOURNÉE PALAISSEAU

As a large technological company, Thales benefits from the fact of having a wide base of experienced engineers trained in nearly every electronics engineering domain. To take profit of that Thales organizes periodical meetings at the Thales Research and Technology (TRT) facilities located at Palaiseau (France) near to Paris. Placed in the Key Technology domains perspective, «Les Journées de Palaiseau» are one-day seminars with presentations and demonstrations from Thales Divisions and TRT’s on a dedicated technical topic. These events favor exchanges and networking within the Thales community by mixing scientific, architecture and marketing aspects.
In this frame, the PHASER project will be presented at the next «Journée de Palaiseau» devoted to Electro-Optics that will take place on November 5th 2015.

PHASER PRESENTED DURING TASE TECHNODAYS

Being Thales an industrial partner clearly oriented to the institutional market it has well established dissemination methods to access the key stakeholders and decision makers and present them our key products and advancements. An integral part of this strategy are the Thales Technodays. These are events organized at site and/or division level where key customers are invited to a hands-on exhibition where the last R&D developments are presented. Thales Alenia Space organizes a technoday every other year to present all its Space oriented developments.

PHASER was included among other 37 innovations in the Technoday celebrated at TASE the past 9th and 10th of June 2015. More than 40 visitors were received during the event coming from the most relevant target customers and media for TASE. In this event, TASE with the help and presence of DAS, presented PHASER as a disruptive technology that will play a key role in the future telecom payloads and the different flight opportunities were discussed with institutional (ESA representatives, Military, EC Space NCPs…) and commercial (Hispasat, Hisdesat…) stakeholders

PHASER First Year report delivered to the REA

PHASER project has successfully completed its first year of activity. All the targets defined for this first project year have been achieved. This result has been reached through the strong commitment of all the partners that have shown an excellent cooperative attitude from the very first moment of the project. From the administrative point of view, both activity and expenses follow the initial plan and no delays or overruns are foreseen for the active and future tasks. The different project management organs (General assembly, Technical Management Team, WP responsibles…) are confirmed and its different members agreed by the partners. These organs are working properly, allowing and smooth management of the project.

From the technical point of view, in this first year, the overall PHASER system architecture has been defined in detail, including critical elements such as a Laser Reference Generator Unit (LRGU), a Sub Sampling Unit (SSU) and an ADC and Post Processing Unit (PPA). Technical specifications have been prepared for all the PHASER building blocks and detailed design activities are advancing as planned. First technical results shall be available in the coming months to be presented in different relevant congresses.
